Dhenkanal: A man was collecting money from truck drivers last night at the College Bypass, a suburb of the National Highway In Dehenkanal district of Odisha calling himself a tehsildar( a local administrative office)r. Town police arrested two people in this connection and seized two four-wheelers used by them .
According to sources, Ramchandra Patnaik of Raghunathpur village in Jagatsinghpur district was on his way to his area in a truck from Gudiakateni in Odapada block at around 10.30 pm Mondaynight. Three young men came in a bolero and stopped his truck on the National Highway on Dhenkanal College Road. The truck driver was asked for his registration papers and money as bribe. He refused and asked him to go to the Govindpur police station.
At this point the PCR, which was patrolling the police, arrived. Seeing the police, the young men asking for money began to run. Two young men trying to escape were arrested by police, while another fled. Bolero used by the accused was seized from the spot. Ramchandra Patnaik has lodged a written complaint with the town police in this regard. A case has been registered in the town police station on 26/21 and two suspects have been arrested.
